SOC: Happy or Content?

My mom and I were gossiping yesterday about whether or not Will and Jada were separated. My mom "heard" that Jada said to Will when they first met (ad-libbing here) Yeah I know you are Will Smith but I am Jada Pinkett and I am going to do my thing too. Daddy chimed in, "Yall stop gossiping, it's none of your business." So we stopped discussing it. My following thought went to her band and how ridiculous I thought it was for her to have one when she has a talented husband and they are RICH. What does she need a band for? Somebody needs to run the household and raise the things. Two different extremes but I reflected on my own life. We aren't rich, but my husband is talented in his own right. For years we have been maturing a photography business and now he is retiring from the Marine Corps to run the business full-time. Before Christopher was born, I was his sidekick. After Christopher, I became his behind the scenes sidekick; forgetting all about myself and what I want to do with my life. Just when I start to get a grasp on things and my own ball rolling, he seems to need me more. I've found myself in the SAME place of saying, as long as he is happy I am happy. But what about me? His legacy is not my legacy. I saved this comment I made on another blog just in case I never need to be reminded. So....

Here's the thing... Stay in the "happier", it is so important. Additionally make sure your "content" isn't a place that you have "settled for".

This 5 minute Stream of Consciousness was inspired by a quote.

It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post.
  • Link up your post.
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.
