I chucked my FitBit for Apple pastures...

This post isn't for everybody.

I'm just getting here with my first post of the year and overthinking it like it's an important milestone or something. I have nothing philosophical to say. I just wanna get this post written already. I'm behind on social media-ing and my Facebook banner/profile pic still represent December. Call me vain, but I'm not ready to "cheese".

Anyway, what's APP???

Happy New Year to you!

Where I find myself at this point each year is needing to get back in health gear.

I don't make any resolutions about it because this is ongoing or should be. It's just at the beginning of the year it becomes a crisis. Spring in North Carolina is right around corner. Nothing worse than shedding the layers to discover new layers.

So as you may have guessed, I'm on a healthy start to my new year. And of course there's an app for that.

It's Apple's new Health App, which was installed with iOS8.

It took a while for me to figure it out, but it's really not that complicated. I just wasn't in the frame of mind to use it. Once I looked under the hood, I discovered some neat stuff.

If you are already using My Fitness Pal and RunKeeper, you can connect those apps to Apple's Health App and see your data right there in one place.

So why did I chuck FitBit? Well I didn't really chuck it. I'll see if I can sell it on eBay for some spare change. But I chucked it because the iPhone 5s and up have a motion processor built in. Once I saw that the iPhone was an option to track steps, why not chuck the FitBit? One less thing to charge and one less thing to remember. My iPhone is always with me, therefore tracking my every move.

Furthermore, so I've read, FitBit won't play nice with Apple, therefore your FitBit data will not show in the Healthkit app. However, so I've read, there's a hack for that. But have you seen the new coming soon to a store near you Apple Watch? FitBit is in trouble. I'm just sayin'.

So yeah,  I really BELIEVE that I am going to do better this year and I will not be writing this same old story AGAIN next year.

Thanks Apple for helping me keep it fresh!

So what's APP? Do you have any favorite apps for kick starting a healthy new year?
