A Cause for Annoyance

Prelude to #1

We wanted to go out of town the day after Easter to go and spend a few days with my mom and dad.

It was a spur of the moment plan depending on whether or not Christopher made the AAU basketball team he tried out for. He did make the team and they did have practice the week of Spring Break.

I thought about how our lives are about to change as it revolves around travel basketball, away games and multiple practices a week, limiting our flexibility to do anything else and I sort of got depressed.

I whined this sentiment to my husband and he said, "Don't worry about it. Go."

And so we went.

We deserved a break before the fun starts.

So I'm writing this post from my phone the Sunday after spring break at a 6pm basketball practice and I'm not thrilled about it.

10 things that turned me into Mrs. Cranky Pants just this week...

#1 - Basketball practice on a Sunday. I hope this isn't a thing for weekends with no games. Sunday evening happens to also be Papa Bear's bowling night, which means I'll always have to go to basketball practice.

#2 - Doing taxes. 'Nuff said.

#3 - Deciding what's for dinner. I don't know why I bother asking. I get, "I don't know" or "It doesn't matter." It matters that I have to think about it before my feet hit the floor in the mornings.

#4 - Someone homeschooling in Starbucks where I come to write in peace. And Panera seems to be the new home for interviews. I was in there a couple weeks ago for a change of scenery and someone was interviewing for a nanny position at the next booth. I'm a morning person, but not for enthusiastic nanny voices or elementary reading lessons. I left.

#5 Walmart. I'm standing in line with ten items writing #6.

#6 I really hate grocery shopping and only go to pick up a few things at a time. I usually go through self checkout, but our Walmart is under construction. I think they are turning the 200 lanes they don't use into self checkout lanes. Right now, self checkout is closed.

#7 - People not following driving rules. I really hate when one lane is closed, there are several signs and a flashing arrows, warning to merge into one lane but cars continue driving in the other lane until it runs out and then they have the NERVE to bully their way into MY lane.

#8 I hate it when telemarketers call after 8:00 at night. I've answered asking, "Do you know what time it is?"

I hate it when it's a robot.

#9 I hate when I've just dozed off and Papa Bear asks me a question that I have to wake up my brain to answer and then he falls to sleep before I do.

#10 I hate hearing the heat come on in the middle of the night because it's still cold in APRIL. This is usually the low electric bill month.

Sporadically Peeved,

Can you relate?

This was a Listicle Friday post. It's the Week 2  old school blogging prompt for the Finish the Sentence Friday writing community where I'm co-hosting with Kristi Campbell of Finding Ninee. This week we are sharing 10 things that we hate more than anything.

Join us for next week's FTSF prompt, a Stream of Consciousness post where we will be writing for 5-minutes on the optional prompt "My Home".
