"Hey Siri. Give me a 5-minute timer."

I'm writing on the prompt "Food" today.

I just put some essential oils in the refrigerator - lemon, grapefruit, lime and orange. I have baking soda but it's better for a fresh smell to go in instead of waiting on the baking soda to absorb the stink.

My husband cooked some spam today. I hate that smell so much. I'm thankful that he loved me enough when I was pregnant to not cook it at all. But over the "spam" of our 20-year marriage, I know I've endured that smell over 100 times.

No matter how hot, cold, rainy or humid I dramatically open the windows to get a cross breeze. It doesn't work so much when it's humid but otherwise I feel like I'm suffocating in spam. I also go and put on a plastic shower cap or wrap my hair in a scarf. There's nothing worse than having food smells on you AND in your hair.

When I was in high school there was a couple who came to our church who smelled like IHOP or the  Waffle House and not in a good way. If it was hot in church, they just smelled cooked. I nicknamed them Mr. & Mrs. Bacon and Eggs. I never did know their real names.

What food smells do you hate?

Back to WHY I put essential oils in the refrigerator... my husband puts the remaining spam on a plate and covers it with cling wrap and it smells through that!

So I had to hold my breath and put the spam in a closed container and doctor the fridge with EO's.

The End

This is a Stream of Consciousness Friday post. It's the Week 3, of the old school blogging, prompt for the Finish the Sentence Friday writing community where I'm co-hosting with Kristi Campbell of Finding Ninee. This week we set a timer and write for 5 minutes on the optional prompt "Food"

Join us for next week's FTSF prompt where we will share a photo and tell the story behind it.
