I still have not successfully installed iOS 5 on my iPhone. I terminated it yesterday after four hours. It seems it was stuck; and I needed to use it. I decided to try my iPad overnight. I started that process about 7:30 PM, and it went on and on and on and on and on AND ON. I was jarred out of my sleep by my son who I thought had a bad dream. But he called me in his room to ask, "Why is school so important?" I sighed, patted his head and told him to go back to sleep. Since I was awake, I went to check the status of my iPad update. At some point my computer had restarted!!!!!!! I logged in and it had a message that said something like windows has installed recent updates which may have caused your computer to restart. I looked at my paralyzed iPad and logged back into iTunes. There was a message saying the iPad was restoring back to its original settings. I didn't know what was going to happen now. The iPad guts had been ripped out and I wasn't there to save it. So at 4:07 AM I left it restoring from a backup. I didn't know if the process started over or picked up where it left off. I went back to bed pretty much to just lay there; 5:45 would be here before I know it. I got up at 5:30 - and shuffled in the computer room. By 6:00 it was restoring music and videos, and I still didn't know if it had updated to iOS 5. At 6:06 it was syncing and YES it was updated. When I finally had a minute to look at it again, there were a few iCloud settings I had to agree and login to. Then once I got to my home screen I stared in belief and disbelief that my apps were not there. Music, videos, mail, and contacts were there - that's good. But my son will be very upset to start ANY of his games from scratch - in fact I'm pretty upset too - we sweat together over Angry Birds. So I figure there's got to be a way to get my data back. I found this link which by the way hasn't worked YET - but its the only hope I have to hang onto: click here for relief??
So I'm stuck (in line) I suppose. I already had a mobile me account. So I did what the article said, but I couldn't sync with iCloud. iTunes told me to sign in from the iPad, the iPad told me to go to me.com on my computer and move my account information to iCloud. isoconfused!
When I log into MobileMe I get the following message: Due to high demand, we are temporarily limiting the number of users moving from MobileMe to iCloud. Please try again later. We apologize for any inconvenience. Don't they know that I am a huge representative with EIGHT followers - who I have nothing to tell!?
This whole process reminds me of the time I got a new bike for Christmas and it rained until it was time to go back to school. I couldn't think of anything else to do even though I had other toys to play with. i40yearsold - so what, iabigkid when it comes to stuff like this. But itooold2haveatantrum.
