Sickness: Ain't nobody got time for that!

Oh geez, Papa Bear is sick. I'm not the pampering type so his sickness gets on my nerves. I know that was totally mean. Sickness pampering could very well be the reason why I have a wedding ring on my finger.

When my husband and I were dating, there was a weekend that he asked me if I could come over because he was sick. I picked some things up from the grocery store and spent all day under his sick roof watching television. There was no internet or electronic devices to play with back then.

It seems our relationship took a turn after that weekend. In the course of boiling soup I believe I became "the one". He liked it and he put a ring on it.

I answered the call of duty (moaning) at 4 something this morning. I was having a hot flash, he was shivering and wanted to snuggle. I got out of bed to get him a blanket, prepared an alka-seltzer and watched him drink it so I could place the glass on the nightstand. I covered him up and then attempted to fall back to sleep. It was a no go. His congested snoring seemed to be drowning in phlegm and his heat was radiating over me like I was in a sauna.

I couldn't cool off or turn down his volume so I lay there and came up with the pros and cons of his sickness.

One of the cons was not being able to turn on the ceiling fan. The only pro I came up with was soup for dinner.

Teaching my retired Marine how to be a civilian, I told him that our doctors office accepted walk-ins from 10 to 12; he could go get something to ease his misery. Then Christopher and I fled the scene of the crime and took off for five hours.

I sent Papa Bear a text to see if he'd been to the doctor. He had, so homebound was cleared for landing. I made one more stop to buy Lysol.

Here's the thing... I am going to be peeved if I get sick. Ain't nobody got time for that!
