Hot Flashes and a Rambling Brain

I didn't know what to title this one. I am up in the middle of the night taking advantage of a hot flash and a rambling brain.

Wine & Allergies

I can drink wine again. I couldn't this time last year. I started easing in a glass here and there. I buy the 4 pack "mini" bottles of Merlot by Barefoot. One glass equates to about ¾ of a cup (my guessitmate). I can have one and not get a stuffy nose or headache. Last night (about six hours ago) I had two. No headache, no stuffy nose. Hot flash trigger - yes. So I got up to drink some ice water and ice water woke me up for real.

Cherries is the new thing I'm allergic to (I could eat them last year). The result this year is natural botox in my lips.

Asparagus Pee & Uninvited Guests

Raise your hand if you get it. I've read that it doesn't happen to everyone. I'm hoping this ice water in the middle of the night flushes mine out quickly.

For dinner I roasted chicken wings, corn on the cob and asparagus. Apparently dinner smelled very good. I had an uninvited guest.

To Kill a Mockingbird & the N-word

Not too long ago I was watching The Godfather for the fifteen hundreth time, always seeing something I never noticed before. I narrowed my eyes on Tom Hagen and then looked him up on IMDB and said, "OMG that's Robert Duvall!" Duh! I thought Tom Hagen was a one hit wonder who never acted again after The Godfather's. Little did I know Tom Hagen did a bunch of stuff before he looked like the Robert Duvall I know. So I was watching To Kill a Mockingbird for the fifteen hundredth time after I found out he was in it. Two glasses of wine kicked in before I got to reacquaint myself with Boo Radley aka Tom Hagen aka Robert Duvall and I fell asleep.

I had already decided that I was going to turn it off after I saw "Tom Hagen" because even though I love that classic, I wasn't in the mood for it.

The Confederate Flag & the KKK

Since the conferderate flag was removed from the State House grounds in my hometown Friday, I've wanted to relish in 15 minutes of peace. I haven't had the news on, and haven't scanned any articles or read comments about it. I probably shouldn't watch Boo Radley aka Tom Hagen because I really like Robert Duvall. I did see the most ridiculous looking picture for a Facebook news article; two hooded KKK members who still plan to rally even though the flag has been removed. Sigh with me.

July 10, 2015

So my daddy was there Friday, July 10, 2015. I'm so proud of him for taking a selfie during such a historical moment. I didn't want him to go down there because the world is too unstable for being in public places anymore. I'm glad it was peaceful.

I was watching on CNN and had one of those overjoyed emotions where you are laughing, crying and blowing your nose at the same time.

Peaceful rally on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to remove the confederate flag from the State House grounds in Columbia SC January 17, 2000

So daddy announced on Facebook that he was going to the KKK rally. He's pushing it!

Update: Daddy didn't go to the rally. South Carolina's Governor Haley requested that South Carolinians not give the KKK an audience and hoped that those who did not support the rally would just stay away. The local news did not cover or promote the event. Unfortunately groups came from Florida and North Carolina and ... sigh with me ... it wasn't pretty. July 19, 2015
